Well, that was fun I suppose. We played Teh Birdz and had a great time on Frostbite, but after only one week of competition Gromit and Kn1ghT threw in the white flag. I'm pretty irritated that this went down the way it did. I think more time should have been given to the league and hell, with 10 teams we were in a great position to have some competition.
I think a lot of the players, if not the majority, were back for the experience of the matches... the thrill, etc. I think the first match definately gave that to us and we were getting ready for Rocket when the league vanished. I had emailed 400+ players from the past and got quite a few emails about wanting to return, people looking for teams, etc.
Overall, I think it was just a disconnect that Gromit and Kn1ght have always had from the community, or more the premise of TWL as a whole. TWL should be a base for the community to compete, even if the amount is small (this game has been out for 9 or so years). I would have hoped they could admit they didn't have interest and let others apply to manage the league instead.
Unforunately, that didn't happen. After a tournament and some false promises, the fate of a league was somehow always hinged on the word of mouth of a few teams that might join but didn't. I'd hate to be a part of something that is managed with a non-communicated ultimatum at it's core.
GGs Wolf, we'll see you again with the next revival; doubtful it will be a part of TWL - but I don't think that's a bad thing.
