Website Updates

03/24/2010

I've updated all of the core team with images (ZephyR is Chris Hansen haha) and I just did a quick pass on the Roster page. I know some of the images have differing borders but you get the jist. I'll try to sit down and do a better pass but my photoshop skills are rusty :D. Hopefully I can add an email or Xfire icon to each bar and use CSS to section it off and link it to the relative information. Let me know if you have any ideas.

Necrotic UrT Pub!

03/24/2010

Infinite has thrown down and got us an 18 slot pub. Still getting things set up but it should hopefully get going soon. I just hooked up the web-end XLRStats which can be seen here. If you want to jump in and try it out, just connect to 74.117.237.82:27960.

Urban Terror - Week 4

03/18/2010

After a closer match next week, we're looking forward to week 3. Each week we are getting better and more accustom to the games unique style. We play No Name on ut4_ambush this Sunday. The map is up on the private server but it's pretty foreign to me so hopefully we can figure out a strat before match time :)

Website Changes

03/18/2010

I ended up getting a new private server through GameServers.com as the AOW server was garbage. The tracker on the right is now pointed to that server. In addition, I did preliminary work to section off downloads and info to be game specific. Hopefully I'll get more details on downloads and work on the core team pages next!

L4D2 Versus vs. DBC on March 16th

03/10/2010

So we joined the Versus ladder as Scavenge is still locked and I've been challenging fools to just get forfiet wins. Now we have an opponenet in DBC and hopefully it'll all pan out so we can actually play. It's on Dark Carnival @ 9pm EST on March 16th. Start pubbing it to get an idea of good infected spots / survivor weak points.

Urban Terror - Week 3

03/10/2010

Good games against 21. We definately learned what we need to work on. We're playing against Q0 on ut4_riyadh and I feel we'll be able to do a bit better. Riyadh is a familiar map to us all and hopefully we'll bring some sniper pain to the mix. Work on your jumping and watch the videos for good Riyadh routes :). See you Sunday!

Urban Terror - Week 2

03/05/2010

So our first week of FTWGL ended up in a forfiet win. We're prepairing for our second match, against Blackjack, on ut4_sanc. It's an interesting map that seems pretty unfairly balanced towards blue. Everyone is working hard to get their movement up and figure out all the tricks that are associated with this game. Hopefully we can put up a show this Sunday :)

Website Updates

02/27/2010

I've just updated the Downloads section of the site. I found a group of Urban Terror maps and I've hosted them there. In addition, I have some RtCW maps and player configs for both RtCW and Urban Terror. In addition, I pointed our server autodownloader to the site so if you join the server and need the map it'll pull off of this site aswell. Enjoy!

Urban Terror Updates

02/27/2010

Our first FTWGL match in the CTF league is verses a team named Cheese Please. Unfortunately, the team only has one player so I'm pretty sure we'll be getting a forfeit win. Hopefully next week we'll have an active team to get this show on the road.

I've changed our RtCW server over to Urban Terror so we can properly play matches as seen fit. We can probably find an RtCW alternative, as far as a server goes, but as we'll be playing UrT every week it made more sense.

I'm still figuring out the game but I was playing with Alpine tonight and I actually was doing well trickjumping and wall jumping. I've found my favorite weapons in the AK, G3 and the last weapon on the list (always forget the name). Anyways, we're keeping active on the pubs and we'll be scrimming soon so hopefully we can put up a fight when we play our first match.

RtCW 6v6 Ladder

02/27/2010

So, in wake of the league folding, a ladder has been created. We've joined up to have fun and see where it goes. Rung based ladders on TWL have a flaw in regards to who can challenge who. If you are rung #1 you have to wait until someone challenges you, which can easily kill a ladder activity if the #1 team is ignored by the lower rung players.

A power ladder would have been better but whatever, it's TWL so it's basically a sorry we killed RtCW competition, and here is a ladder that will become inactive in a few weeks. Regardless, join up and we'll play a few matches every few months.

Urban Terror - Testing New Waters

02/19/2010

So, in the wake of TWL-gate, we've decided to move onto a new game to compete in. Urban Terror is something ZephyR has been bitching at me to play for some time now. We hoped in a server with some Team Vote guys and are enjoying it. If any old RtCW players are interested in playing, hit me up on IRC and we'll work something out.

To download the game, which is entirely free and standalone of Quake 3 Arena (it's a mod based off that), follow the Urban Terror link in the Links section to the left. Also, GGAllin explained it best by saying it's as if Counterstrike and Quake 3 Arena had a baby. I still feel some RtCW in it though - we'll see how it goes!

TWL gives up on RtCW Season 14

02/19/2010

Well, that was fun I suppose. We played Teh Birdz and had a great time on Frostbite, but after only one week of competition Gromit and Kn1ghT threw in the white flag. I'm pretty irritated that this went down the way it did. I think more time should have been given to the league and hell, with 10 teams we were in a great position to have some competition.

I think a lot of the players, if not the majority, were back for the experience of the matches... the thrill, etc. I think the first match definately gave that to us and we were getting ready for Rocket when the league vanished. I had emailed 400+ players from the past and got quite a few emails about wanting to return, people looking for teams, etc.

Overall, I think it was just a disconnect that Gromit and Kn1ght have always had from the community, or more the premise of TWL as a whole. TWL should be a base for the community to compete, even if the amount is small (this game has been out for 9 or so years). I would have hoped they could admit they didn't have interest and let others apply to manage the league instead.

Unforunately, that didn't happen. After a tournament and some false promises, the fate of a league was somehow always hinged on the word of mouth of a few teams that might join but didn't. I'd hate to be a part of something that is managed with a non-communicated ultimatum at it's core.

GGs Wolf, we'll see you again with the next revival; doubtful it will be a part of TWL - but I don't think that's a bad thing.

L4D 2 - Versus Team?

02/19/2010

I've been pondering the thought of us joining the versus ladder for L4D2 and just holding off on Scavenge. The primary reason why I wanted to do Scavenge in the first place is that it is shorter and has rounds similiar in some sense to RtCW. However, the TWL admins fail to unlock it so I don't know what is up.

If you think you'd be interested in a Versus Team let me know ( I know pimpplaya is down for sure ). Also, if there are other leagues that have L4D2 competition, send them my way as I'm getting rather tired of Team Warfare
